It's easy to conserve!
It's as simple as turning off the light as you leave a room, or recycling your plastic water bottle. Turn off the sink faucet when you don't need to use it. You find alternatives to driving - it can be as easy as biking, taking the bus, or carpooling with friends or colleagues. You can also repurpose items that you would ordinarily throw away. You should at least reuse and recycle paper instead of just throwing it away. Remember that plastic and glass are also recyclable. Additionally, use compost bins to get dispose of food scraps or other compostable materials.
How can you help?
Try reaching out to a nearby conservation society or just any organization. When it comes to a hands-on approach to the issue, you can participate in volunteer events. You could make your own event to raise money and donate to a conservation nonprofit. If you are truly passionate about environmental problems within your region, you can also reach out to your local legislators and write about the problem and ideas you may have.
